Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Plant Identifier AI – Leaf & Flower Scanner (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use our mobile application (Android package: com.plantidentifier.ai).

Information you provide

Photos you take or choose from your gallery are sent to our backend so we can request an AI-generated description and identification-style text. Images are processed to produce the on-screen result; we do not use your photos to train public models. Processing involves our hosting provider and an AI service as described below.
Optional text you enter (for example notes about location or season) may be sent with your photo to make the generated text more relevant.

How processing works

The App may use Supabase (hosted backend) for authentication and to invoke a server function that forwards your image (encoded) to an AI model for analysis.
The App may use anonymous or session-based sign-in so the service can authorize requests and help prevent abuse.
AI providers may process content according to their terms and retention practices; we configure the service to return text results to your device and do not sell your photos.

Local data on your device

Saved identifications and preferences may be stored locally on your device (for example in app storage). This data remains on your device unless you share it yourself. Uninstalling the App may delete local data.

Advertising

The App may display advertisements through Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) or similar SDKs. Ad providers may collect device identifiers, coarse location, and usage data to show and measure ads, as described in Google’s policies. You can adjust ad personalization and privacy settings on your device where available.

Analytics

We may use limited analytics to improve stability and usage patterns. Third-party SDKs are subject to their own privacy notices.

Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

International users

Your information may be processed in countries where our service providers operate. By using the App, you understand that data may cross borders as needed to provide the service.

Your choices

You can stop sending photos by not using identification features; you can clear local history in the App where supported; you can uninstall the App to remove locally stored data.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.

Output may be wrong, incomplete, or misleading, especially with poor lighting, partial leaves, or look-alike species. Nothing in the App is a guarantee of plant identity, edibility, or safety.

Not professional advice

The App does not create a relationship with a botanist, agronomist, toxicologist, or medical professional. Do not rely on the App to decide whether a plant is safe to eat, touch, or use medicinally—especially for pets, livestock, or children.

Your responsibilities

You verify critical information with experts, field guides, or local extension services when mistakes could cause harm.
You comply with laws and regulations in your area regarding plants, conservation, and protected species.
You do not use the App for unlawful purposes or to harm others or our systems.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the App, attempt to reverse engineer or overload our services, or submit content that infringes others’ rights or contains malware.

Intellectual property

The App, its branding, and its software are owned by us or our licensors. You receive a limited, non-exclusive license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes unless we agree otherwise in writing.

Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we and our affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the App, reliance on any generated content, or any illness, injury, or property damage related to plant misidentification or use of plants. Our total liability for any claim related to the App is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months before the claim or (b) fifty US dollars (USD $50), if either applies.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless us and our affiliates from claims arising out of your misuse of the App, reliance on AI output for high-risk decisions, or violation of these Terms.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the App at any time. You may stop using the App at any time.

Governing law

Changes to the Terms
